Liz Shea Biography

It was back in the summer of 1993, that Liz, a recent music graduate began her professional journey singing and song writing, as she recorded her first debut release 'In the Flesh' with songwriter/producer veteran, Paul Field. Independently produced, this album is still available on cassette, whilst you will find the best songs which amazingly have not dated newly available here as downloads.

A move to Manchester saw Liz forming the band ‘Word of Mouth’ with Sam Chaplin (Jazz bomb) which built quite a following in the local student scene and beyond. This culminated in them coming runners up in the BBC competition ‘Minstrels in the Gallery’ in 1998. Alongside this, she became a regular soloist on Radio 4’s daily service, demonstrating her unique ability to bridge the classical/pop divide, and began singing with ‘Wellspring’, a unique group of classical and jazz musicians committed to excellence in worship.

A move to the Midlands saw Liz picking up her solo singing/song writing, as she began touring the country under the auspices of the Saltmine Trust. As well, as numerous gigs nationally, she has performed at Spring Harvest, and the Keswick convention recording live solos for 2 of their albums. Liz’s ability was picked up by BBC Songs of Praise when she appeared singing a solo Celtic version of ‘Be thou my vision’

This culminated in the last album; self titled ‘Liz Shea’. This album encapsulates what Liz does best, performing from a grand piano, engaging audiences with moving melodies and thought provoking lyrics.

Liz is now based in the East Midlands, and continues to work both as a solo artist and with her newly formed band, performing at her local Stamford Arts Centre. She is currently working on a new album to be released Christmas 2007. Watch this space!
